"Criticism, in which the lovers of art used to find support for their opinions, has latterly become so self-contradictory, that, if we exclude from the domain of art all that to which the critics of various schools themselves deny the title, there is scarecly any art left."

- "What is Art" by Leo Tolstoy (1899)

  1. True, true. But I think it's more worthwhile to discover what affects you personally than to try to define what is "art".

  2. Yes, sir. But the question is, when does art become known in the world as art? When it gets recognized or "criticized" by others, perhaps. And, there is some broad definition of art that the masses generally abide by, that you also generally abide by, so isn't that a part of what affects you personally in the end?
